Haven Lantern was co-founded by Seungah Jeong and John Salzinger. John's earlier venture, founded in 2012, pioneered solar portable lighting as both a new product category and a new business model: using sales through traditional retail to help fund the distribution of the same products at reduced margins for non-profit relief work. Seungah Jeong joined as CEO in 2016. By the time the company was acquired in 2024, it had reached 5 million people living without access to clean, reliable power and helped avert 4 million tons of CO2 worldwide as a certified B Corp.
